5 easy steps to a healthier diet.

Changeing ones diet might be a real tough challenge. Habits, emotions and sometimes addictions might be things we have to face and put some work into changing. Here are a few tips that can be helpful. And don't forget to celebrate your successes!

1) YOUR FIRST MEAL
Change breakfast - might be the deepest routine, thou for most people it's also the one meal that's always the same, so then there is really only one thing to change.

Tips on what to eat!!!
What is there to eat if you want to make a better choice for breakfast? Well of course it depends on what you are eating today. Here are some suggestions.

a) make a smoothie (bananas, strawberries and some water makes a delicious morning starter, or mango and orange)
b) make a smoothie and pour it in a bowl, add nuts, shredded coconut, diced fruit and maybe some raisins
c) make a nut porridge in a food processor. Add (soaked) nuts and/or soaked buckwheat, some soaked raisins, water, apple and cinnamon and blend. Top with a spoon of honey.

2) RAW VEGGIES
Add 50% raw veggies and leafy greens to EVERY plate/meal.

Tips on good veggies!!!
Any veggie is great; leafy greens, cucumber, tomato, paprika, celery, fennel, cabbage, savoy cabbage, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, onion, avocado (of course), lime etc. Make a salad and add fresh spices to it like parsley, basil, oregano and thyme. Add ginger, cayenne, chili and garlic for "heat".

3) DON'T CUT AWAY - CUT DOWN
Don't cut away the things you really love, even if they are really "bad". Cut down and have them as nice treats from time to time instead - or change to a healthier alternative.

4) CONNECTION
Connect with your food and find fiends who share your interest in healthy foods and share as many meals as you feel comfortable about (and that is doable) with them.

5) MAKE IT REASONABLE
100% is not the goal! It's more important that you feel comfortable and that you feel good about what you eat. Rather than huge leaps that makes you step back later, take small steps forward and celebrate your successes. Remember

"Every journey start with one step."

An unscientific alkaline contribution

"I lost weight without even trying, I felt brighter, had far more energy, my skin was brighter. Plus, you stop craving sugar because your blood-sugar levels are more balanced. Even the ridges in my nails have gone; it really did change the way I looked at food." says Natasha Corrett (chef and co-founder of Honestly Healthy)

Make your own study
There are no or very few large scientific studies made so far (that I know of). My suggestion is that you conduct your own very small and very striking study. Take 30 days of your life (if you live until your 80 that will be 0,1% of your lifetime) and go at least 70% alkaline. Be sure to note (on paper or not) how your feel before, during and after every meal. Also note how you feel two hours after your meals. Is that hard? Can you do that? Will you start today, without changing your diet, and answer the same question: How do I feel right now?

Then when you feel ready, do the diet change for 30 days (0,1% of your expected lifespan). Keep asking the same question (How do I feel right now?) before, during and after every meal, plus two hours after your meals. You will note a stunning difference! Will you give 0,1% of your life to feel the differenceTo get you started, here are a few suggestions on what to eat and what to avoid.

GO CRAZY: ALKALINE FOODS
Avocado; leafy green vegetables; sprouted beans, lentils and seeds; qinoua; green and white tea; fatty fish (thou might contain high levels of heavy metals and pesticides and is not very eco-friendly); most nuts; berries; lemons; tomatoes; watermelons; broccoli; spinach; kale; asparagus; beetroot; cauliflower; cucumber; peppers and paprika.

DANGER ALERT: ACIDICFOODS
Red meat; wheat; cheese; cream and milk; coffee; alcohol; peanuts; cashew and pistachio nuts; seafood (excluding oily fish); biscuits; refined sugar; eggs, most refined and industry processed foods.

Here you can find more extensive charts:
http://www.snyderhealth.com/foodash.htm

It is okay to have food from the acidic section. Just be moderate and counteract with more foods from the alkaline section. Give it a try! What do you have to loose, except some extra weight maybe?

What I have learnt from people all over the world, and that is also now being rooted within the medical society, is that inflammation is the mother of disease. A lot of that inflammation is caused by high acidity.

One of the pioneers on pH is Robert Young, who says: "I was doing research into the effect of diet and lifestyle on blood, and realized there was a correlation between what we were eating and how we were living, and how it impacted on the chemistry of the fluids of the body. The human body is alkaline by design, but all its functions produce acid. So our need for alkaline is constant and what we eat and drink helps to buffer the acids that we produce."

When will you start?
Remeber it's only 0,1% of your expected life and you are free to abort at any time within the 30 days of after. Start with the question (How do I feel right now?), then go with the diet. Don't worry about having it right. Just add more of the alkaline foods and aim to reach 70%. One really easy way is to add salads to every meal and making the meal a side dish, then you don't even have to learn any new cooking. Also exchange you rice, potatoes and pasta for qinoua, lentils and sprouts.

WHEN IS NOW A GOOD TIME TO START?

Transcript of audio interview
with Dr. Maurice Hilleman

Dr. Len Horowitz: Listen now to the voice of the worlds leading vaccine expert Dr Maurice Hilleman, Chief of the Merck Pharmaceutical Company's vaccine division relay this problem he was having with imported monkeys. He best explains the origin of AIDS, but what you are about to hear was cut from any public disclosures.
Dr Maurice Hilleman: and I think that vaccines have to be considered the bargain basement technology for the 20th century.

Narrator: 50 years ago when Maurice Hilleman was a high school student in Miles City Montana, he hoped he might qualify as a management trainee for the local JC Penney's store. Instead he went on to pioneer more breakthroughs in vaccine research and development than anyone in the history of American medicine. Among the discoveries he made at Merck, are vaccines for mumps, rubella and measles…

Dr Edward Shorter: Tell me how you found SV40 and the polio vaccine.

Dr Maurice Hilleman: Well, that was at Merck. Yeah, I came to Merck. And uh, I was going to develop vaccines. And we had wild viruses in those days. You remember the wild monkey kidney viruses and so forth? And I finally after 6 months gave up and said that you cannot develop vaccines with these damn monkeys, we're finished and if I can't do something I'm going to quit, I'm not going to try it. So I went down to see Bill Mann at the zoo in Washington DC and I told Bill Mann, I said "look, I got a problem and I don't know what the hell to do." Bill Mann is a real bright guy. I said that these lousy monkeys are picking it up while being stored in the airports in transit, loading, off loading. He said, very simply, you go ahead and get your monkeys out of West Africa and get the African Green, bring them into Madrid unload them there, there is no other traffic there for animals, fly them into Philadelphia and pick them up. Or fly them into New York and pick them up, right off the airplane. So we brought African Greens in and I didn't know we were importing the AIDS virus at the time.

Miscellaneous background voices:…(laughter)… it was you who introduced the AIDS virus into the country. Now we know! (laughter) This is the real story! (laughter) What Merck won't do to develop a vaccine! (laughter)

Dr Maurice Hilleman: So what he did, he brought in, I mean we brought in those monkeys, I only had those and this was the solution because those monkeys didn't have the wild viruses but we…

Dr Edward Shorter: Wait, why didn't the greens have the wild viruses since they came from Africa?

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …because they weren't, they weren't, they weren't being infected in these group holding things with all the other 40 different viruses…

Dr Edward Shorter: but they had the ones that they brought from the jungle though...

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …yeah, they had those, but those were relatively few what you do you have a gang housing you're going to have an epidemic transmission of infection in a confined space. So anyway, the greens came in and now we have these and were taking our stocks to clean them up and god now I'm discovering new viruses. So, I said Judas Priest. Well I got an invitation from the Sister Kinney Foundation which was the opposing foundation when it was the live virus…

Dr Edward Shorter: Ah, right…

Dr Maurice Hilleman: Yeah, they had jumped on the Sabin's band wagon and they had asked me to come down and give a talk at the Sister Kinney Foundation meeting and I saw it was an international meeting and god, what am I going to talk about? I know what I'm going to do, I'm going to talk about the detection of non detectable viruses as a topic.

Dr Albert Sabin…there were those who didn't want a live virus vaccine… (unintelligible) …concentrated all its efforts on getting more and more people to use the killed virus vaccine, while they were supporting me for research on the live viruses.

Dr Maurice Hilleman: So now I got to have something (laughter), you know that going to attract attention. And gee, I thought that damn SV40, I mean that damn vaculating agent that we have, I'm just going to pick that particular one, that virus has got to be in vaccines, it's got to be in the Sabin's vaccines so I quick tested it (laughter) and sure enough it was in there.

Dr Edward Shorter: I'll be damned

Dr Maurice Hilleman: … And so now…

Dr Edward Shorter: …so you just took stocks of Sabin's vaccines off the shelf here at Merck…

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …yeah, well it had been made, it was made at Merck…

Dr Edward Shorter: You were making it for Sabin at this point?

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …Yeah, it was made before I came…

Dr Edward Shorter: yeah, but at this point Sabin is still just doing massive field trials…

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …uh huh

Dr Edward Shorter: okay,

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …in Russia and so forth. So I go down and I talked about the detection of non detectable viruses and told Albert, I said listen Albert you know you and I are good friends but I'm going to go down there and you're going to get upset. I'm going to talk about the virus that it's in your vaccine. You're going to get rid of the virus, don't worry about it, you're going to get rid of it… but umm, so of course Albert was very upset...

Dr Edward Shorter: What did he say?

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …well he said basically, that this is just another obfuscation that's going to upset vaccines. I said well you know, you're absolutely right, but we have a new era here we have a new era of the detection and the important thing is to get rid of these viruses.

Dr Edward Shorter: Why would he call it an obfuscation if it was a virus that was contaminating the vaccine?

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …well there are 40 different viruses in these vaccines anyway that we were inactivating and uh,

Dr Edward Shorter: but you weren't inactivating his though…

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …no that's right, but yellow fever vaccine had leukemia virus in it and you know this was in the days of very crude science. So anyway I went down and talked to him and said well, why are you concerned about it? Well I said "I'll tell you what, I have a feeling in my bones that this virus is different, I don't know why to tell you this but I …(unintelligible) …I just think this virus will have some long term effects." And he said what? And I said "cancer". (laughter) I said Albert, you probably think I'm nuts, but I just have that feeling. Well in the mean time we had taken this virus and put it into monkeys and into hamsters. So we had this meeting and that was sort of the topic of the day and the jokes that were going around was that "gee, we would win the Olympics because the Russians would all be loaded down with tumors." (laughter) This was where the vaccine was being tested, this was where… so, uhh, and it really destroyed the meeting and it was sort of the topic. Well anyway…

Dr Edward Shorter: Was this the physicians… (unintelligible) …meeting in New York?

Dr Maurice Hilleman…well no, this was at Sister Kinney…

Dr Edward Shorter: Sister Kinney, right…

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …and Del Becco (sp) got up and he foresaw problems with these kinds of agents.

Dr Edward Shorter: Why didn't this get out into the press?

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …well, I guess it did I don't remember. We had no press release on it. Obviously you don't go out, this is a scientific affair within the scientific community…

Voice of news reporter: …an historic victory over a dread disease is dramatically unfolded at the U of Michigan. Here scientists usher in a new medical age with the monumental reports that prove that the Salk vaccine against crippling polio to be a sensational success. It's a day of triumph for 40 year old Dr. Jonas E Salk developer of the vaccine. He arrives here with Basil O'Connor the head of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis that financed the tests. Hundreds of reporters and scientists gathered from all over the nation gathered for the momentous announcement….

Dr Albert Sabin: …it was too much of a show, it was too much Hollywood. There was too much exaggeration and the impression in 1957 that was, no in 1954 that was given was that the problem had been solved , polio had been conquered.

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …but, anyway we knew it was in our seed stock from making vaccines. That virus you see, is one in 10,000 particles is not an activated… (unintelligible) …it was good science at the time because that was what you did. You didn't worry about these wild viruses.

Dr Edward Shorter: So you discovered, it wasn't being inactivated in the Salk vaccine?

Dr Maurice Hilleman: …Right. So then the next thing you know is, 3, 4 weeks after that we found that there were tumors popping up on these hamsters.

Dr. Len Horowitz
: Despite AIDS and Leukemia suddenly becoming pandemic from "wild viruses" Hilleman said, this was "good science" at that time.

Gandhi's top 10

These are the positivity blog's top 10 Gandhi fundamentals for changing the world.

1. Change
“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”
2. Control.
“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”

3. Forgiveness

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
“An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

4. Action.

“An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”

5. The present moment.

“I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the present. God has given me no control over the moment following.”

6. Everyone is human.

“I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”
“It is unwise to be too sure of one’s own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.”

7. Persist.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

8. Goodness.

“I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”
“I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”
9. Truth
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
“Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.”
10. Development.
“Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.”

Walnuts Are Now a Drug!!?

Walnuts Are Drugs According to the FDA

In Ms. Penn's ArticlesYour Black World News on July 25, 2011 at 4:48 am
by Ayvaunn Penn
Those walnut brownies baking in your oven are jam-packed with drugs! What? Where? The nuts. Yes, the FDA even calls them a “new drug.” The New American Magazinereports that the FDA wrote a nice little letter to Diamond Foods stating, “‘Your walnut products are drugs….they may not legally be marketed…in the United States without an approved new drug application.’ The agency even threatened Diamond with ‘seizure’ if it failed to comply.”
You might be wondering why the FDA decided to jump down Diamond Foods’ throat while there are plenty of other companies that sell walnuts. The reason the FDA waged war on Diamond Foods is because the company took measures to educate their customers on the researched health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids found in walnuts — reducing the risk of heart disease and some forms of cancer. According to The New American Magazine, Diamond Foods provides this information on its website and packaging. Diamond Foods claims that their data is substantially supported by scientific research and that Life Extension magazine features 57 articles depicting the benefits of walnuts. They add that ’The US National Library of Medicine database has nothing less than 35 peer-reviewed published pieces supporting that eating walnuts is beneficial for vascular and cardiac health. Despite all of this data, the FDA is still not satisfied. They wrote Diamond Foods saying:
“We have determined that your walnut products are promoted for conditions that cause them to be drugs because these products are intended for use in the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of disease. [The products are] misbranded [because they] are offered for conditions that are not amenable to self-diagnosis and treatment by individuals who are not medical practitioners; therefore, adequate directions for use cannot be written so that a layperson can use these drugs safely for their intended purposes.”
You heard them. The FDA thinks you need medical guidance on how to eat walnuts. A member of the Life Extension magazine team by the name of William Faloon says he thinks he knows why the FDA opposes educating the public on the health benefits of walnuts and other natural foods that are actually healthy for consumers. The first reason he gives is that junk food manufacturers who, he says, lobby the federal government will bring in more revenue. According to The New American Magazine, The second reason Falloon states is that “by making it less likely that Americans will consume healthful foods, big pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers stand to gain by selling more ‘expensive cardiac drugs, stents, and coronary bypass procedures’ to those made ill by their diets.” Hopefully neither of the latter propositions is the case because that would be terribly disturbing. Until Diamond Foods works out the kinks with the FDA we can just buy walnuts from a different compnay.

Irradiated foods are safe?

If irradiation is truly dangerous, wouldn't there have to be hard evidence available somewhere that proves it?
In approving food irradiation, the FDA started with 441 studies. They accepted 226 for further review, but then narrowed their criteria and selected only sixty-nine for in-depth review. Of these, the FDA itself reported that thirty-two showed adverse effects and thirty-seven studies showed safety problems. Then, without explanation, they eliminated all but five studies (including every negative study) and said they would base their decision on those five studies alone.

These are the results of three of the excluded studies:
    • In the FDA's final report approving food irradiation, they stated that when up to 35 percent of the laboratory animal's diet was irradiated, feeding studies had to be terminated because of "premature mortality or morbidity."
    • At the University of Illinois, the Department of Medicine fed irradiated food to mice and 17 percent of the animals had to be killed or died, due to respiratory problems so severe they couldn't even move around their cages.
    • Researchers at the Medical College of Virginia fed rats with irradiated beef. All the male rats died of hemorrhagic syndrome within thirty-four days.
